And you can get your rewards

If you use a credit card to make purchases for your personal or business endeavours why not use a credit card that rewards you with credits that you can use towards a new vehicle of your choice. You can do that with the GM rewards cards courtesy of HSBC and Chase Bank. Both of them give you earnings for every purchase that you make, earnings that you can use towards purchasing your new car from your choice of over 30 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles in stock.

The first card is the GM Card which is a MasterCard offered through HSBC. Of the four GM Rewards Cards this is the one that’s considered as the fastest way to gain credit towards that new GM vehicle. This is in part because of the 5% earnings you get when you use this card on any purchase. And since it’s unlimited earnings you can use the card as much as you want and earn as much credits as you want.

That beings said, even though you can earn as much credits as you want you don’t really get to use them all. There are two restrictions that will stand in the way of that – time and amount.

First is time – the earnings have no expiration date. In the case of the GM Card that’s 7 years. After 7 years any credits that old will disappear. Second is the amount of the earned credit that you can redeem. You are limited to the amount you can use towards that new GM vehicle – in this case it’s between $1,000 to $3,000 only and that depends on the GM model you opt to buy.

This 7 year expiration date and limited redemption allowance is not a problem for the GM Business Card though. This is because they don’t matter for this card. When you use this card your earned credits last for a long time and you can redeem all of them if you so wish.

The earnings percentage is straightforward enough but it is tiered. This means that depending on the type of purchase that you pay for you will earn a different percentage level. The highest level is 5%, much like the GM Card. However, the type of purchase that gets this numbers is limited – only if you use this card at authorized GM dealers on GM parts and services. This means that if you don’t go to a GM authorized dealer and avail of their service you can’t get any earnings.

Next up is the 3% level and this has a particular type of purchase in order to be activated. This is for eligible business purchases such as paying for your gas at the pump, buying office supplies or simply dining out. If you eat out a lot, and I’m sure you pay for your gas a lot too then this level can help earn you a lot too. As for the rest of your purchases that does not fall into any of the above two categories you will get 1% earnings out of them.

Any of these two cards offer a lot in return for their use. No matter which one you get you will be on your way to driving away in your new GM car.
